A Tribute To His Service In World War 2

This page is dedicated to my father's service in World War 2. And to all the men and women who served with him.

I am sad to say that I took my dad's service for granted while he was still alive.  He rarely spoke of it and, when he did, it was brief comments with little detail.

When he died, I inherited two things that changed the way I felt about his service. One was his foot locker. This had been off limits to everyone with dire consequences to anyone who tried to unlock it. The other was a VHS tape.

I played the tape first.  It was my dad narrating the story of his life. The largest part of it was an overview of his service.
His foot locker contained photos, letters, somewhat of a diary, postcards and other miscellaneous items from his life, including the wallet and flag from the Jap that through the grenade that blew his foot off, both still with blood stains. And last but not least, a sack full of medals.

As I went through all of this history, I began scanning everything I could. With that completed, I started a time line spread sheet of all of this information.  I also searched the internet for information and photos of the places and things he mentioned but did not have photos of. Finally, I researched the history of the 129th during World War 2.  I found very little personal information or photos on any of the web stites I visited.

Now I am attempting to build this web site in hopes of making contact with my fathers comrades or their decedents. To share and hopefully receive information. So If you have anything I could use on this site or would like original scans let me know on the comments page and I will get back to you.

Please leave a comment.
